Big water views need a proper light plan
Homes here are built to face the dam and the fairway, which usually means an open-plan living wing wrapped almost entirely in glass. That's a beautiful problem to have and a genuine specification challenge: too little control and the afternoon sun makes the room unusable; too much and you've boxed in the view you paid a premium for. We spend real time at the in-home measure working out where sunscreen fabric alone is enough, and where external shading needs to intercept the heat before it reaches the glass at all.
Given the scale of most Centurion Golf Estate homes, motorised control stops being a luxury and starts being the only sensible way to operate a wall of glass — one app, every blind, sun sensors doing the daily adjustment nobody wants to do by hand.
What we're commonly asked to fit here
- Sunscreen roller blinds — glare and heat control without losing the water or fairway view.
- Motorised blinds & automation — app and sensor control across large multi-blind walls of glass.
- External venetian blinds — stopping heat at the glass on the worst western elevations.
- Folding-arm awnings — over entertainment patios, wind-sensored as standard.
Not sure where to start? Our free Raslouw Light & Glass Field Guide walks through what the Highveld sun does to each elevation here, and which blind we'd fit on each — read it before you book.
